Deck Installation Case Studies: Deck with New Stairs, Piers and 6x6 Treated Cedar Posts Installed on Grain Valley, MO

Arrow Renovation was called upon to work on a deck in Grain Valley, MO. We noticed some cracked wood below the spindles and need to replace that first. The customer wanted stairs to be added to their deck so we marked the proper location for the new piers.

New stairs and railings will be added to the existing deck. Two new piers will be excavated down to 36 inches, filled with gravel #4 rebar and finished with concrete. New Simpson anchors will be attached to the new piers and the new 6 x 6 treated cedar posts. New rim joists will be attached to the new landing. A new concrete pad will be poured so the stair stringers coming off of the rim joists can be set upon the new concrete. New treated 2 x 6 stair treads will be attached to the stringers in the landing.

New one by material will be attached for the risers on the stairs. New railings will be installed on the new stairs and landing to blend with the existing railings.The existing railings will be dismantled on the main deck and the spindles reused. The new railing will be a 2 x 6 treated top cab, 2 x 4 rails with the saved spindles cut to fit.
